How to Set Up 2-Step Verification?

Account Setup Set Up 2-Step Verification Keep your Viber account safe with 2-step verification. Set up a PIN that you will be prompted to enter when you activate a new phone or make changes to your Viber account. What is the PIN used for? You will be prompted to enter your PIN when you need to do the following: Set up a new phone. Reactivate an account after uninstalling and reinstalling Viber. Change your PIN. Change your phone number. Change your email address. Deactivate Viber on your desktop or tablet via your phone. Deactivate your Viber account. Set up a PIN To set up a PIN: Open Viber on your Phone Tap More (Android) (iOS) Tap Settings Tap Privacy Tap 2-step verification Enter a 6 digit PIN Tap Next Enter your PIN again Tap Next An email address that you have previously used to set up your Viber account will appear on the email confirmation page Tap Next to continue and complete the 2-step verification set up Alternatively, enter an email address if you don’t have an email set up or you wish to use a different address You will receive a confirm 2-step verification setup Pin protection The email address and PIN that you use for the 2-step verification feature will be securely stored on our servers. If you change your PIN, your old PIN will be immediately deleted from our servers, and only the PIN you’re currently using will be stored. Your PIN will also be deleted from our servers if you disable the feature or deactivate Viber. Why do I need to set up my email address? Your email address will be used to reset your PIN in case you forget it. If you forget your PIN and don’t have access to your email address you may be locked out of your Viber account. You can also opt in to receive general updates from Viber when you provide us with your email address. The option to unsubscribe will be available at the bottom of each email that you receive. Change email address Your email address will be used to reset your PIN, so make sure you keep it up to date. Open Viber on your Phone Tap More (Android) (iOS) Tap on your profile picture Tap on the email address field Enter your PIN Enter your new email address Confirm You will receive a confirmation email asking you to verify your email address to complete the process. Change PIN To change your PIN: Open Viber on your Phone Tap More (Android) (iOS) Tap Settings Tap Privacy Tap Password protection Tap Change pin Enter your current PIN Enter a new PIN Enter your new PIN again PIN reminders Your PIN will be required when you need to set up a new phone or update a variety of settings on Viber. If you forget your PIN and don’t have access to your email address, you may be locked out of your Viber account. To avoid this situation, we will send you friendly reminders to enter your PIN every few weeks. I forgot my PIN During a PIN reminder If you forget your PIN when you are prompted with a PIN reminder, tap Forgot PIN. You will be sent a reset PIN email to the email address you provided during the setup. When changing settings You can exit out of the PIN request by tapping the ‘x’ or tap Forgot PIN to reset your PIN. If you enter your PIN incorrectly 5 times, you will be blocked from trying again for 24 hours and won’t be able to change the setting until you enter the correct PIN or reset your PIN. When setting up a new phone After entering your phone number and activation code in your new phone, tap Forgot PIN. You will be sent an email that you can use to confirm your identity and continue to restore your chat history on your new phone. If you enter your PIN incorrectly too many times, your activation attempt will be blocked. Activation blocked If you enter your PIN incorrectly 5 times while trying to set up a new phone, you will be blocked for 5 days from completing the activation process, as well as changing PIN-protected settings. Viber on your old phone won’t be blocked; however, you won’t receive message notifications until you reset your PIN. Viber on your desktop and tablet won’t be affected. Tap Unblock account to send a reset PIN email to the email address you provided, and create a new PIN. Once you reset the PIN, you will be able to set up your new phone 5 days after it was blocked. Tip: Reset your PIN by tapping Forgot PIN to avoid getting blocked. Disable 2-step verification You can disable the 2-step verification PIN if you no longer want to take the extra verification step when setting up a new phone or making changes to your Viber account. SAVE: Any evidence of the bullying and show an adult. BLOCK: Massages or the person. Do not respond to them in any way. LOG OFF: The site where the cyberbullying is happening. TALK: To someone you trust about it.
